For our penultimate day in Srinagar, we decided not to make it too hectic. We were still reeling under the effects of the long and tiring walks we had in Gulmarg the previous day, and we had at first decided that we would take a taxi and go to old Srinagar, Lal Chowk, Hazratbal Mosque, Mansabil Lake – all within reasonable distance. But again, we learnt that the Mosque and the Lake Area were closed due to President’s presence in that area. Perhaps it was just as well. So we decided to take an auto to Lal Chowk, where we would walk around, do some shopping if possible, and walk back to the Hotel which was about 2Kms. But after a while, the heat and the humidity became unbearable and we decided to take an auto back to the hotel instead of walking around aimlessly.
